Storyteller. Digital Strategist. Super-powered Diva of Dopeness!
Hi. I’m Nourisha and I am addicted to words. Everything about words – how they sound, what they mean, the shapes they take, and the feelings they invoke – makes my heart squeal with delight. You might even accuse me of epeolatry, but nobody asked you, did they?
I have been writing professionally for more than 15 years and earned a few degrees (B.A. in Journalism and M.A. in Professional/Technical Writing) along the way for those who care about that sort of thing. My experience spans the education, technology, and health care industries with content development, editing, search engine marketing, lead generation, email marketing, social media, marketing collateral, press releases, newsletters, industry publications, scriptwriting, storyboarding, feature articles, web project management, app project development, and more among the many projects I’ve completed over the years.
I can spend hours talking about digital equity and life at the intersections of tech, government and education. The highlight of my career, and maybe my entire life, was the day I got to interview Oprah Winfrey on the red carpet for the SELMA movie in Selma. She touched my shoulder as she talked. It was like being baptized in unicorn tears. I was changed.
On the rare occasion I am not writing, I’m living out my Indiana Jones fantasies and enjoying every bit of beauty the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I am a dedicated geek who regularly cosplays at Cons around the country. I volunteer for a number of local youth and tech organizations because kids (and the tech that will replace them) are our future. In the meantime, I’m committed to letting them lead the way. Kids, not the tech.
Like every other writer you know, I’m working on a book, or two, so I draw fodder from the stranger than fiction things happening in real life. *All names and locations have been changed to protect the innocent and clueless among us.* I don’t care about writing the great American novel, but I am adamant about sharing my truth, and helping others whose voices are regularly silenced to share their truth with the world as well.
I quote movie lines as if they were great literary works laden with undeniable truths … because they are. I am a little on the greedy side when it comes to good food and especially when it comes to eating Kansas City barbecue, also known as manna from heaven. I enjoy traveling locally and globally and make it my mission to earn a stamp on my passport every year.
Oh darn, looks like our time is up and I need to vacate the couch for the next person. If you want to continue our lovely conversation, click the contact link and let’s set something up.
